1. Selecting Progress Type for Milestones
While creating goals under Measure Progress, you will need to select a progress type. Please note that milestones can be applied to any progress type except the default progress type
2. Setting Start and Target Values
Enter the start and target values for your progress type
3. Adding Milestones to Your Goal
To add milestones for your goal, click on the Add Milestones button located below the Measure Progress section
4. Select Milestone Calculation Method
After clicking Add Milestones, the Goal Milestones window will open. Under Summarize Progress, select the Average method. In this option progress achieved by all milestones is averaged which then reflects on the parent goal
5. Enter Milestone Targets
After selecting the Summarize Progress method as Average, the start and target values for each milestone month are automatically populated based on the initial start and target values defined for the goal. Based on the selected goal cycle (in this example, Quarter 4, 2025), the cycle is divided across October, November, and December
6. Save Milestone Settings
click Save to create the milestones
7. Creating the Goal
After saving the milestones, click on the Create button to create the goal
8. October 2025 Check-In Progress Calculation
When a check-in of 30 is completed for October 2025, the system updates the current overall progress to reflect the latest confirmed value. Since October is the first milestone in the selected cycle, and no additional check-ins have been completed for subsequent months yet, the current overall progress will display 30 only
9. November 2025 Check-In Progress Calculation
When a check-in of 30 is completed in November 2025, the system calculates the current progress using the Average method based on all completed check-ins up to that point.
Here is how the calculation works:
October check-in value is: 30, November check-in value is: 30
Total of completed check-ins: 30 + 30 = 60
Number of check-ins completed: 2
The system divides the total value (60) by the number of completed check-ins (2), which results in an average of 30. As a result, the current progress continues to display 30, even after the November check-in
10. December 2025 Check-In Progress Calculation
When a check-in of 50 is completed in December 2025, the system recalculates the current progress using the Average method across all completed check-ins.
The calculation is as follows:
October check-in value is: 30, November check-in value is: 30, December check-in value is: 50
Total of completed check-ins: 30 + 30 + 50 = 110
Number of check-ins completed: 3
The system divides the total value (110) by the number of completed check-ins (3), resulting in a current progress of 36.67
